What is the Booyah Awards?
Okay, I know what you're thinking. "What is this crap?" Well, basically, this is yet another awards site for FictionPress stories. However, unlike other award sites, this site is laid back and basically, it's quite ridiculous. It has ads, who cares. I use layouts generated by freewebs, who cares, the site's still going to work the same way regardless of what it looks like. Basically, I don't take things too seriously around here, and you shouldn't either. Oh, and I'm pretty honest about the way things work (See Rules).
How is Booyah different from other FP awards sites?
Booyah is a site designed for everyone who has a sense of humor and who won't take things so seriously. There is no discrimination based on genres of stories. As a matter of fact, here at Booyah, we could care less about genres, which is exactly why none of our categories have anything to do with genre or story type. All genres, story lengths, ages, genders, ethnicities, and species are welcome.
What does "Booyah" mean?
Booyah doesn't mean anything (hey, just like winning an award from a silly FP awards site run by random people like me!!). It's not an acronym; it doesn't stand for anything (Break Out Our Yearly Award Hats? See, I got nothin' good). Check out the Categories and you will see that most of the awards focus on "scenes" of stories rather than the overall stories. For this reason, I almost named the awards the "Scene Awards" but then I thought that sounded kind of stupid. So I figured, well, if I'm going to give the awards a stupid name, I might as well go all out and give it the stupidest one possible. Thus, Booyah! Oh, also, it was 1am when I decided the name, and I am not very functional in the middle of the night.
So what's the point?
Haven't you caught on by now? There is none. Okay, no, wait, I'll try to come up with something. The point of Booyah is to be fun and silly. And to give out random awards like everyone else is doing,only in a slightly different way. Same ol' categories... you won't see those here! The greater your sense of humor, the better you will appreciate this site and be appreciated by this site.
How does this work?
Well, first we have nominations for different Categories. You can nominate stories (as long as you follow the Rules) during each circuit. Once nomination spots are filled, we start the voting. I will evaluate each nominee and select my own winner. Others will also get the opportunity to vote for their their choice of the winner. Then winners will be announced. That's it.
What do you get if you win a Booyah Award?
Why, a "booyah," of course. You win the honor of being involved in the greatest FP awards site EVER! Also, I will personally make you an icon to display on your FP profile if you wish. The icon will be a cartoonish mix of random nonsense, put together through MS Paint, personalized to fit my mood at the time of making it. Why have I chosen to do this for the prize?
