1. These rules are designed to provide some kind of structure to the site, so that everyone knows how this is going to work. But, as you know, rules are arbitrary, so don't take them too seriously.
2. Booyah works in circuits. Each circuit has categories in which stories, authors, or scenes from stories can be nominated for a Booyah Award. The categories might change each circuit, they might not. A new circuit will happen whenever I feel like it. Once a year? Twice a year? Whatever. We'll work this out as we go along. See rule #1.
3. Only five stories can be nominated in each category per circuit. Why five? Because I am one of those weirdos who has five fingers on each hand, and it just seems like a nice number.
4. Readers/viewers/any of you people can submit nominations by checking out the Categories page and sending me an email at booyahawards@gmail.com. Nominations are only accepted if you follow the directions for submitting a nominee.
5a. Nominations are accepted arbitrarily. I might actually look at the nominees and pick the good ones. I might pick the stories I've heard of before. I might put all the submitted nominees in a hat and randomly select some. Being nominated is all about luck, not skill. So consider yourself lucky to be nominated. (Hey, at least I'm honest, right? I'm not going to claim that I'm picking the best stories in the universe, because I don't know if that's true or not!)
5b. While I claim that nominations are accepted arbitrarily, a certain amount of structural quality is expected for each story. Stories with inferior grammar/spelling/layout are probably not going to be selected (so you should probably nominate more stuff).
5c. Again, an addendum to the arbitrary stuff: there is one specific person (the Almighty Power here at Booyah) who actually does look through them all and selects them with some kind of purpose. For example, the Almighty Power actually checks to make sure the scene fits the category appropriately. Quality of the story is kind of estimated, but really, how can you honestly judge that in this step of the process? Everyone has different tastes and preferences, right? And that's what we're all here to vote for, in a way. So Booyah's not going to step on any toes and say that one story is more worthy of the nomination than another for a certain category. If it's nominated, then someone must obviously think it's worthy, so we'll probably accept it if it fits the category.
5d. Booyah will not accept nominations for stories that were written specifically as a entry to a contest or competition of another website. That's their thing and we're going to be good sports and not steal their stuff.
6. A single story can be nominated only once per circuit. Why? So no one will whine that one story got more nominations than another. A story can have ONLY ONE.
7. A single author can be nominated only twice per circuit, but they must be different stories (see rule #6). Why can an author be nominated more than once, but a story can only be nominated once? Because I said so!
8. Once a story wins a Booyah, it can't be nominated again. Ever. Winning a Booyah is the highest honor that can ever be placed on a story and giving it more recognition is just redundant.
9. An author can only win two Booyahs per lifetime. Because of Rule #8, the two awards must be for two different stories.
10. If a story was nominated and didn't win, it can still be nominated during the next circuit. However, it had better be really good to be nominated again. Other stories not previously nominated will have first dibs on current nomination placements, but there is still a chance for the old story.
11. You can nominate whomever (yeah, I used it right, so what?) you want. As in, I don't care if you nominate yourself. Even if I said you couldn't, I know you would anyway, so go ahead and do it. Nominate yourself. It's all in good fun.
11. Winners are selected by the secret individuals at Booyah, as well as through a voting process. Please keep in mind that voters have a bias, and it's usually not in your favor. The voted winner can be predicted simply based on the number of reviews a story has. Booyah's winners are selected, following the rules/requirements of each Category, by individuals at Booyah actually reading the nominations and making the best choice according to their own personal biases.
12. Stories are copyright of their authors. Respect the stories and authors of FP. Don't plagiarize or insult other writers or me. I am Booyah. Okay, actually, I don't care if you insult me. That's what I'm here for.
13. Don't take anything too seriously. It's a flippin' website.
14. Rules may be added or changed whenever I feel like.
15. Whiney babies will not be tolerated or acknowledged. If you don't like my rules or my awards, get out.
